ENG 175 Native American Literature

The focus of this course is Native American literature and culture. By reading texts from multiple eras, students will learn about historical events from the perspectives of Native American writers. Topics include European colonization, the westward expansion of the United States, and American Indian boarding schools. Students will also explore the diversity of literature by Indigenous peoples in North America by analyzing multiple genres of cultural expression, including oral storytelling traditions, novels, and films.
